Decisions...

OK, so tomorrow begins the tax free weekend... Diana and I have been talking about getting a new computer for a while... I am on the fence... portability vs. power... as well as the usual decisions when it comes to this kind of purchase...

so anyone out there have any pros and cons for me to mull over... please let me know... any inside info on what's working well... what is going to be outdated sooner...

the iMac....

or the MacBook...

Any guidance or input would be well taken and appreciated... Except for negativity... Diana does not need any negative influences on this decision... PLEASE!!!

Cheers!!!

Personally, I'd go for the iMac considering you have a Powerbook and/or may be getting a MacBook for the new job. The iMac will have a much larger hard drive and will be useful for storing all your pictures, video's etc. The hard drive and better video card will also help when editing any videos. My two cents.

um, the only problem with the iMac is that YOU ARE NEVER HOME BRO. Go Macbook Pro. Then you could bless someone else with a cool powerbook. (if you need my new address let me know)

Peace & Love from Austin!

iMac = more space.

don't forget about the free nano with the MacBook though.

tough decision.

you can tell I'm wotking hard over here, haha.

I'd wait on the MacBook - let them work more of the kinks out - there are still a number of manufacturing flaws these early ones are showing up with. You do already have a laptop as well - why get another ... this is a large monetary investment you're making.

macbooks are still really flaky. don't get one yet. Get the imac they seem to be working well and it's for your house you will be much better off citing the reasons everyone else has said...

I am a little late on this, but I figured I could give my thoughts.

I got me one 'dem iMac computin' machines, and that sucker is faster than a spider monkey hopped on redbull and cheese doodles.

My only complaint is that sometimes I want to take it with me. Whether I am just going to the livingroom or I am headed out of town. See, before I got this new machine I just had a laptop. So, I got spoiled by the portability. Now I have this new machine, and although it is 32.33 (repeating, of course) times better, I still want to be able to sit in front of the tv in the livingroom and watch football, while I check stats on my computer, while my wife brings me beers and hot wings. Thanks, honey.

It is kind of like remodeling your bathroom and then going on a roadtrip. That tile floor and those fancy fixtures aren't doing you a bit of good when you have to sit down in the stall next to big, ol', truck drivin' Elwood at a rest stop on the side of I-30 somewhere in Arkansas.

In other words, if you are still going to own a laptop, get the iMac. If you will not have a laptop, maybe you should get one.
